“You know, we can take a wild chance to go the cinema and see if we can accident bump into them.”
Cody thought for a moment. It sounded interesting but the young woman really wasn't his type. To him she looked more like a student. He was, after all, the father of a ten year old boy.
"Look, I'm just starting my first year at the Academy. The last thing I want to do is get involved in something that would appear inappropriate. So I guess the answer is no. I don't want to go to the cinema."

“We are College Professors, and students are past eighteen years old,” he told Cody as he leaned little close toward Cody. “Do not forget not all students are younger. There are no real age limits to colleges,” he added with a smile of being satisfaction. “And how you do know she is a student?” he asked.
Ryan was quiet as he was watching another girl looking at the magazine racks. He had an eye to look at the woman. There was no crime. He rolled his blue eyes looking at Cody. “Fine no cinema. But, you like her?” he asked was watching her.

“Fine no cinema. But, you like her?”
Cody rolled his eyes but looked over at the woman. She was actually a very attractive brunette lady who looked a bit older than the average freshman and he gave her a polite grin and a nod then looked away, blushing slightly.
"I'm not looking to hook up with anyone right now, Ryan. Please --- don't push me," it was more of a warning than a plead. "I've just gotten out of a very bad relationship not long ago and I'm in no hurry to get into another one. Not yet, anyway."

Ryan observed the man blush. It was funny, but it was a natural reaction that any man would do. A fool would not blush from not looking at that beautiful on two legs. Ryan arched blues sparkled. “One night stands is a great way to relieve depression or stress, or both,” he said as he tucked a hand under his chin.
The older man had shared he broke up. “Sorry, I did not know. You want to talk about it?” he asked to give the man a look of listening eyes.

“One night stands is a great way to relieve depression or stress, or both."
"You do have a point," he nodded in agreement. "But it's best not to do that kind of thing in the town where you live and teach. It reflects badly on you and badly on the school. I've seen more than a couple of instructors get fired for fraternization with students or hurting the imagine of the school. And yes, you can get fired for those kinds of things at this school.
"If I were to "mess around"," he made the quotation marks with his fingers, "I would do it way out of town where no one knew who you were or what you do for a living."
“Sorry, I did not know. You want to talk about it?”
"Not especially. Let's just say 'All work and no fun makes for a bad marriage.' I spent so much time doing things with my students and seeing to their needs that I neglected my wife's and my son's needs. My son won't have anything to do with me but Madelyn, my ex-wife, is talking to my son and is going to allow, Jeff, to come visit me in the summer when classes are over."

Ryan disagreed with Cody. He decided not to say it. The man was not going to debate on that issue. He would like to debate that your wife could want to go to the same school you work, and she would want to take the same class you teach. It was ridiculous to say to the wife: Honey you can't go to my school because I teach. Yea, two peas in a pod can't be in the same pod.
It could be possible Cody was older than Ryan. The other man could have more wisdom, but Ryan was in the other generation. The generation that goes the other way. Well, that's how he saw it.
Ryan was leaning in listening to Cody as he was talking about his divorce situation. After, he was done, Ryan leaned back on the stool as he was observing at another lady. Was he that bad? He brushed his hair back against his ear. That one piece of hair was never tamed right.
“So what do you do for fun besides reading books?” He asked as he was staring down at the book Cody had on the table.

“So what do you do for fun besides reading books?”
"Different things. I write, do research --- watch TV. Eat microwave dinners. Drink coffee," Cody rolled his eyes realizing just how uneventful his life really was. "Well --- what do you do for fun?" Cody asked him back.

Ryan quickly labeled the other man a hermit. Ryan knew judging other people were remorseful and a gammy habit. Cody seemed to be a tedious man. Ryan could not dream sitting down too long. The body needs to move around.
The body would settle down and get lazy. Possible to gain some weight. Cody could be that person lives in a house all day. Ryan would die if he did that. That was pure torture. To be in one place and not go nowhere. That should be a crime for Pete's sake.
Ryan gently shook his head left to right. “Man, you need to get out to smell the roses,” he told him. “I am always having fun. Talking to you is fun. Meeting new people, seeing sexy women in cafe's is a favorite of mine. And robbing banks!” he said. He gave Cody a mischief look.
It was funny, Cody was opposite of Ryan. Ryan was picturing Cody sitting on a comfy leather couch in front of a blazing fire in a fire place. Ryan would be out riding a snow mobile, rather sitting there reading a book. Yes, the two men were two opposites.
Ryan rested his left elbow on the table top, placed his left hand under his chin. “Well, I am active. I like art museums, long walks, play sports, exercising, theater. That is a short list. But, when I start teaching I am going to be like you. I love my job,” he said as his blue eyes widen. It looked like two prominent marbles shooting electricity. Ryan brought his left leg over his right leg. His right hand was playing with the cuff of the bottom of his blue jeans.

"And robbing banks!”
That comment took Cody off guard but then he saw the sparkle in Ryan's eyes and knew he was joking and snorted with a grin.
"I like having fun, too," he told him. "I just don't get crazy with it, you know. I'm more subdued, old-fashioned. I like a quiet evening at home, a glass of fine wine with my meal, Mozart on the radio, a sexy woman in a low cut black dress, an evening at the opera or a symphony concert. You know, normal stuff. Quiet, normal stuff. But, I'm also family stuff. Backyard barbecues, days at the beach or pool, an evening at a local carnival, family movies. That's just me. That's just who I am. That is, when I'm not watching the History Channel or researching on the net."
He shrugged his shoulders, "You know what, you should come over some time and spend an evening with me. We can do something together before classes start. How does that sound? Here's my address," he scribbled it down and gave it to Ryan. "I live in the Quail's Run Apartments not far from here. Come on over one night and we'll have a beer or coffee or whatever you want to do, we'll do it," he gave him a smile.

Ryan was sitting listening to Cody talk. The other man was the opposite of Ryan. Ryan hoped he was not going to be like Cody when he was his age. Ryan was hoping by the age forty he would be working as a professional actor. He was forced to put his career on the side because one of his Agent messed up a negotiation which cost him his union status.
“Well, I accept that is you. I just think your missing out on the good things in life,” he added as his right and left hand was adjusting his tie.
Ryan shrugged his shoulder when Cody did. Mirroring the other shows your with them and on the same page. “Sure. Do you watch sports? Action movies?” He asked. He looked down to watch Cody write. The man had a loosed grip as he was writing.
The man handed him the paper, Ryan took it. The man had a decent hand writing. “I live above you,” he said with a huge smile. “I am not kidding. This time I am not kidding. I just moved in two days ago. "I am awaiting on my friends. They are driving my furniture up from Providence.”
