CHRISTOPHER WINSTON
don't mess things up for me, alright? It was the beginning of the semester and as the summer heat faded, the campus of the Royal Academy began to busy itself up again. Students were now becoming accustommed to the new year and beginning to let the excitement of returning to school drift back into the tired complaints of work and other problems. Slowly, the changes of the surroundings began to reflect this mood. Shorts and T-shirts were no longer the common attire as the wind became chillier and the leaves became washed in reds, yellows, and browns. What was once a lush green was becoming a symphony of colors, enjoying their last moments of glory before the wintry air can swallow them.
Just as the freshness of the year was still fading, Chris, a law student, was already swamped with homework and studying. It was Sunday, and while that was usually when everyone decided to either hole up in their dorm or go out for a fling in the city, Chris was sitting in the library, nose-deep in books. With the changes in the weather, Chris was now donned with a dark grey hoodie along with long jeans and sneakers. A little casual, but even he had to kick back on the weekend. Of course, that was no way to describe his current situation. With a paper due the next day, Chris was busy flipping through Supreme Court decisions and typing notes into his laptop. After all, there was a lot of work one had to do to prepare for a case.
Closing a book, Chris leaned back in his chair, a deep frown burrowed between his brow. There just wasn't anything that would concretely support his thesis. He bit his lip furiously, irritation beginning to settle in his expression. It was simply annoying. He had been up all last night working on this and he still wasn't done. The number of hours of sleep he got could be counted with only one hand. Now, in fact, would be a good time for coffee. Thinking about this, Chris rubbed his face with his hands and groaned.
