CHRISTOPHER WINSTONwhy do you make me worry so much?
It was midnight. No. Two hours past midnight. Even through the curtain, the darkness outside was obvious. And that darkness gave Chris a very anxious feeling. In his opinion, no one should be out that late. As he sat on his bed, book open in his lap, Chris kept glancing at the clock intermittedly. In fact, he was so perturbed that he couldn't focus on what he was reading. There was just no way he could calm down until his girlfriend returned.
Flipping through a couple of pages mindlessly, Chris bit his lip nervously. Kylie, his wonderful, although a bit reckless, girlfriend, was out at a party. A party that she had invited Chris to earlier. However, he had homework to do and he didn't really enjoy mingling with a bunch of drunks, jocks, and frat boys, so he had declined and stayed in his room. However, now he was getting worried, for it was two o'clock in the morning and there was no sight of his girlfriend. Not only so, but she hadn't even returned any of his calls, which he had made over a period of time since midnight. Some might call him overprotective, but Chris just considered himself to be concerned.
Usually, nothing bothered Chris this much. However, Chris put his girlfriend high on his list of priorities and didn't want anything to happen to her. Still, she did make it difficult sometimes and their relationship definitely hasn't been a smooth ride. The two always argued about things like Chris's study schedule and her theater and other (or perhaps lack of) studying. It was definitely... frustrating sometimes.
Rubbing his temples to help relieve some stress, Chris mumbled to himself, "Oh hurry up and come home..." It was becoming just a bit overwhelming.

Kylie was out having the time of her life at a frat party. She had known a lot of people in a few fraternities and sororities. She was invited to one of the bigger parties of the year so she had to go of course. She tried to get Chris to go earlier but, he declined and she was a bit sad that he didn’t want to go. She knew he had a lot of school work to do so she just let him be. She had left and went to the party. It was so much fun. Kylie was dancing with her friends, drinking, and having a good time. She also was taking a few pictures while she had been there just to take for memories, for her scrap book during her college years.
Her phone had been left in her purse upstairs in her friend’s room while she was downstairs in the basement of one of the houses. Kylie hadn’t been this bad in a while, some part of her thought someone had put something in her drink that she couldn’t remember. It was late at night and a lot of people were leaving and a few of her friends made her stay and started to force her to do some things she didn’t want to do. She tried leaving but, they didn’t let her.
She was really out of it and when everyone almost had been passed out she snuck upstairs and grabbed her purse. Kylie could barely walk, she stumbled everywhere. She didn’t know how she was going to get back to Chris’s. She found her purse and looked at her phone. It had been blurry to her and it looked like she had a few missed phone calls. She tried to call him back but, she had been in a bad area. ”Stupid technology, what are you good for?” She said and thru her phone against the pavement as it broke.
Kylie went and gone and picked up the broken pieces left of it. The battery came out and just the case of the phone had broken. She looked around and tried to figure out where she had been. She wasn’t that far from Chris’s. She made her way towards that direction stopping a few times. All of the sudden it started to pour down rain and it was thundering and lightening. ”Just great” She said slurring her words.
Somehow the girl had found her way by Chris’s and there had been a small bench out front. She couldn’t find her key to get in. She knew she left it at his place before she had left. This had been the worst night ever. She pounded on the door but, it had been late at night and no one was awake anyways. She sat down on the ground and her eyes started to close. She was getting sleepy and she was soaked.
She had heard someone coming but, didn’t even bother. It had been someone that lived down the hall from Chris. He had recognized her and picked Kylie up. ”Poor thing. Chris must be worried.” He said and opening up the door and walking in. He walked towards Chris’s room and knocked on the door softly with Kylie in his arms. ”Chris?” She said softly and touched the guys face thinking it had been him.

CHRISTOPHER WINSTONwhy do you make me worry so much?
Minute after grueling minute passed as Chris watched the second hand of his alarm clock tick slowly. It was almost too painful to wait. What if something happened to her? What if someone at the party did something to her? What if? Questions ran through Chris's mind like they were on a slideshow, each one flashing after the next. Shoving the book on his lap down, Chris got up off the bed and began to pace agitatedly. This was driving him insane.
Suddenly, there was a soft knock on his door and Chris quickly scrambled to it and fumbled with the knob before opening it. Before him stood a guy, Kevin, who lived a few doors down and in his arms was Kylie, sopping wet and completely wasted. It took a moment for Chris to even comprehend what he was seeing. "What the hell is going on?" he asked, with his eyes bulging with both fatigue and panic. There was an urge to shove Kevin for laying his hands on Kylie, but it became obvious that they hadn't come back together; Kevin wasn't dripping with rain water.
Chris realized that he must've been glaring, for his neighbor said, "Chill out, dude. She's not herself right now. You outta take care of her." It didn't make Chris feel much better that Kylie was acting a bit friendly toward the other man, even if it was the alcohol doing its job. "Look man, thanks for bringing her back. I'll take it from here," he said, prying his girlfriend out of Kevin's arms. The coldness of her soaked clothing shocked him a bit, but he was finally relieved that she was here, safe and sound.
"Good night and thanks," Chris gave his last share of gratefulness before closing the door behind him. Looking at Kylie, Chris sighed. Now there was something else to be exasperated about. This was why he didn't enjoy attending parties, but maybe this time, he should've gone. Then maybe this whole catastrophe wouldn't happen. Walking over to his bed, Chris put Kylie down. There was a lot of explaining for her to do. But... was she even capable of that now?

CHRISTOPHER WINSTONwhy do you make me worry so much?
Listening to Kylie slur through a long monologue of what seemed to be a guiltful explanation, Chris sighed, knowing that he couldn't be mad at her for being like this. Even if he was, she was probably in no state to take his scolding logically and calmly and the whole thing would probably spiral out of control in ways that neither of them would enjoy. That being said, Chris made a mental note to chastise her after she was sober and not in a hangover. It would be too much of a pain otherwise to have this happen again in a worry-filled loop of things. "Well I'm glad that you're okay," he ended up saying, not wanting any more trouble for the night.
Watching his sheets become soaked from her dripping wet clothes irked the neat freak inside of him, but Chris decided that his girlfriend was more important than the condition of his sheets. Still, he dropped a sarcastic line as he headed to his dresser to find a change of clothes for Kylie. "I can see that," he mumbled as he flipped through his clothes, pulling out a t-shirt and some sweatpants. "They're probably a bit big, but if you stay in those clothes you'll catch a cold," he said as he brought the clothes over to Kylie and sat down on the bed.
Pulling at the covers gently, Chris cooed, "C'mon baby, I know you're tired, but let's get you changed first." He'd have to go ahead and change the sheets, too. And everything else that got wet. Tomorrow was definitely going to be a busy laundry day.
